Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is the use of medications, in combination with counseling and other therapeutic techniques, to provide a “whole-patient” approach to the treatment of substance use disorders.

It has been shown that some medications relieve withdrawal systems and psychological cravings that cause chemical imbalances in the body. When provided at the proper dose, medications used in MAT have no adverse effects on a person’s intelligence, mental capability, or physical functioning.

Some Vail Health Behavioral Health providers use Medication Management to treat behavioral and mental health issues as well as Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for substance withdrawal or chronic pain management in addition to psychotherapy

Our providers can see patients in-person at the Wiegers Mental Health Clinic or remotely via telehealth.
