What is Inpatient Behavioral Health Care?
Inpatient behavioral health care is a secure level of care provided to individuals experiencing acute mental health challenges that cannot be safely or effectively managed in an outpatient setting. This level of care offers a structured, secure environment where patients receive comprehensive evaluation, stabilization, and intensive therapeutic support from a multidisciplinary team. Services typically include psychiatric assessment, medication management, individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, and discharge planning.
The total duration of inpatient mental health care treatment varies based on a patient's specific needs and progress. After stabilization, patients may transition to less intensive levels of care, such as intensive outpatient services, community stabilization services or other programs provided in outpatient care.
Key features of Vail Health Behavioral Health's Precourt Healing Center inpatient care program includes:
- 24/7 Care: Patients receive supervision and support from a personalized care team 24 hours a day.
- Structured Environment: Daily activities, therapy sessions and a scheduled routine designed to help patients stabilize and heal.
- Crisis Intervention: The Precourt Healing Center cares for those experiencing acute psychiatric crisis. Please note: all patients will need to be referred by a referring agency through a formal admission request. Patients cannot self-refer and walk-ins are not accepted.
- A Collaborative Approach: Inpatient mental health care at Precourt Healing Center involves a multidisciplinary approach, with a robust care team of psychiatric providers, therapists, behavioral health technicians, clinical case managers, registered nurses and medical physicians collaborating to provide comprehensive and personalized treatment.
