How to Apply 

Application Procedure & Selection Criteria

CO-PIC is committed to equitable practices for all applicants. All interviews are virtual. COPIC considers applications with less than the required minimum hours in both assessment and intervention. Please address any extenuating circumstances that led to difficulty meeting minimum requirements in your cover letter.

APPIC Match Numbers

Students interested in applying for the internship program should submit an online application through the APPIC website.

A complete application consists of the following  materials:

1. A completed On‐line AAPI (APPIC’s standard application)
2. Cover letter (part of on‐line AAPI) stating your preferred training site(s) and why you are interested in those site(s) specifically (applicants can indicate their interest in more than one site within the consortium in the cover letter).
3. A current Curriculum Vitae (as part of the on‐line AAPI)
4. A minimum of 2 standardized reference forms, which must be from persons who have directly supervised your work. Please submit no more than four letters.
5. Official transcripts of all graduate coursework

All application materials must be received by the application deadline date in order to be considered. Applicants who are invited to interview will be notified by email on or before the notification deadline date. Interviews will be scheduled in mid-January.

All samples must be de-identified, removing all identifying client information. Breaches of confidentiality within submitted samples will disqualify your application for further consideration and your program’s Director of Clinical Training will be notified.

All application materials must be received by November 6th, 2026 in order to be considered. If applicants are invited to interview, they will be notified by email on or before the December 4th, 2026 deadline. All interviews for the Consortium will be held Mid-January. Interviews are virtual.

Candidates will interview with each site for which they have been offered an interview and will also have an opportunity to meet with the larger consortium training staff. Interview formats include interviews, town halls, and opportunities to meet our current interns. Interviews for the 2026-2027 internship year will be held virtual in early/mid-January (see dates on the CO-PIC website). Candidates selected for the interview process will be notified no later than 12/4/2026 via email. Interview dates are scheduled on a first-come, first-scheduled basis. If there are any questions or concerns about interview schedules, please communicate them directly with CO-PIC Training Director via email.

CO-PIC will base its selection process on the entire application package noted above; however, applicants who have met the following qualifications prior to beginning internship will be considered preferred:

1. A minimum of 500 intervention hours;
2. A minimum of 50 assessment hours;
3. Dissertation proposal defended;
4. Current enrollment and good standing in an APA-accredited doctoral program; and
5. Some experience or special interest in working in rural areas and with underserved populations.

In addition to the preferences noted above, CO-PIC takes into consideration the potential commitment or interest of any prospective intern to remain in Colorado following internship. Developing a strong behavioral health workforce is an important consideration for the state, and an interest in remaining in Colorado to join the workforce will be considered a benefit in a potential intern.

All CO-PIC sites require interns to provide proof of vaccination for COVID by the start of internship. Interns may also be required to maintain vaccination status with boosters as suggested by the CDC throughout their internship year. Instructions for providing information or completing the background check will be sent out to all who match after the match is complete.

Admisiones al programa

Todos los pasantes que sean asignados a sitios de CO-PIC deben presentar comprobante de ciudadanía o residencia legal y aprobar con éxito una verificación de antecedentes antes de comenzar a trabajar. El o la internista en STRIDE y Vail Health Behavioral Health también debe presentar los resultados de una prueba de detección de tuberculosis (TB) realizada en los últimos 12 meses. Es posible que los centros de CO-PIC exijan a los internistas presentar comprobante de vacunación contra la COVID antes de comenzar el internado. Asimismo, es posible que se requiera que los internistas mantengan su estado de vacunación al día con las dosis de refuerzo sugeridas por los CDC durante todo su año de internado. Las instrucciones para proporcionar la información o completar la verificación de antecedentes se enviarán a todos los asignados una vez que finalice el proceso de asignación.
