Vickie no sal\u00eda de la habitaci\u00f3n de Olivia, qued\u00e1ndose y durmiendo all\u00ed para sentir que estaba con su hija. Vickie quer\u00eda esconderse de los rumores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cNo quer\u00eda ir al supermercado\u201d, dice. \u201cHac\u00eda que la gente me comprara la comida y me la trajera para no tener que ir, solo porque no quer\u00eda ver gente all\u00ed\u201d.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Poco despu\u00e9s de que Olivia se suicidara, Vickie consider\u00f3 el suicidio y elabor\u00f3 un plan. Ser\u00edan pastillas, suficientes para borrar el dolor.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alyssa lleg\u00f3 a casa en medio de la espiral casi fatal. Llamaron a la amiga de Vickie y vino a quedarse a pasar la noche.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMe alegro de no haberlo logrado y de seguir aqu\u00ed\u201d, dice Vickie, reflexionando sobre los d\u00edas m\u00e1s oscuros. \u201cHabr\u00eda devastado a mi familia y a mis hijos, y siento que cuando alguien se quita la vida, simplemente traslada el dolor a otras personas. Puede que termine tu sufrimiento, pero solo lo pasa a otros\u201d.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La muerte de Olivia fue un catalizador para el cambio en la comunidad. Tras colaborar con Vickie y su apasionado compromiso de ayudar a otras personas que pudieran estar padeciendo problemas de salud mental, Eagle Valley Behavioral Health cre\u00f3 el Fondo de Olivia para brindar apoyo financiero a cualquier persona que viva o trabaje en el valle del r\u00edo Eagle, con el fin de ayudarla a pagar servicios de salud mental y\/o de tratamiento contra el abuso de sustancias, con un m\u00e1ximo de seis sesiones por persona al a\u00f1o.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Vickie est\u00e1 comprometida a ayudar a cambiar el estigma en torno a la salud mental.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cCreo que la gente le tiene miedo\u201d, dice, \u201cy creo que la gente no quiere hablar de ello. No creo que sea diferente a que alguien se rompa una pierna. Se puede tratar. Puedes obtener la ayuda que necesitas, pero creo que es dif\u00edcil para la gente dar un paso al frente porque siempre ha sido mal visto... no es nada de lo que avergonzarse\".&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No significa que haya algo malo contigo.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u2018Soy una sobreviviente\u2019<\/strong><br>Dos a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s del suicidio de su hija, Vickie puede mirar hacia atr\u00e1s con perspectiva. Recuerda los d\u00edas en que lo \u00fanico que la sacaba de la cama era llevar a su perro, Jasper, a pasear.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cLa depresi\u00f3n fue dura porque te sientes triste, est\u00e1s en un lugar profundo y oscuro y no sabes c\u00f3mo salir\u201d, comparte. \u201cEs m\u00e1s que estar triste: es como si estuvieras atrapado all\u00ed. Triste: podr\u00edas estar triste por un d\u00eda o dos. Pero la depresi\u00f3n: simplemente est\u00e1s all\u00ed para siempre y no hay forma de salir y nada te hace feliz\u201d.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Vickie reconoce lo f\u00e1cil que ahora le resulta salir de la depresi\u00f3n. Disfruta paseando a Jasper, haciendo senderismo con amigos, recibiendo visitas de Alyssa y Jonus, y su trabajo como especialista en im\u00e1genes para Sonnenalp Breast Imaging en Shaw Cancer Center. Sigue acudiendo a terapia y buscando la ayuda y el apoyo de sus amigos.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Vickie dice que cuenta su historia porque quiere ayudar a otras personas.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cQuiero que sepan que se puede sobrevivir, que se puede superar la depresi\u00f3n, la ansiedad, y que se puede encontrar la alegr\u00eda a trav\u00e9s de este viaje\u201d, dice. \u201cPorque una vez que te hayas ido, simplemente te habr\u00e1s ido y no podr\u00e1s regresar\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSiento que soy una sobreviviente\u201d, comparte Vickie. \u201cSiento que tuve que pasar por lo peor que se pueda imaginar y no sab\u00eda si lograr\u00eda salir, pero lo hice. Aqu\u00ed estoy\u201d.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A veces Olivia visita, dice Vickie, cuando camina por el pasillo de su casa y huele el fragante perfume que usar\u00eda su hija.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTodos los d\u00edas, cuando salgo a caminar, busco se\u00f1ales en las nubes\u201d, dice Vickie. \u201cQuiz\u00e1s si veo un coraz\u00f3n o algo que me muestre que ella est\u00e1 cerca, puedo sentirla a mi alrededor\u201d.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Olivia siempre hablaba de recorrer la costa oeste del pa\u00eds en una \u201cvan hippie\u201d despu\u00e9s de la preparatoria.
